Weekend Update

Saturday morning we decided to head downtown and visit a local bakery that we'd heard great things about.  It's called Hopscotch Bakery but the kids call it Hippity Hopscotch (cute) and it totally made me smile as we were entering the little bakery the baker was sitting on the bench outside and she heard Kenzie say, "is this Hippity Hopscotch?" as she hopped up the steps to the old-time bakery.  The baker smiled, laughed, and said, "Oh, that is too cute."  Unfortunately it didn't melt her heart enough for a free cookie though, she's pretty proud of her baking!!  Although I'd say it was worth it, the croissants had a light jelly filling wrapped around the insides (unexpected yet oh so good), the scone was buttery, nutty, sweet, and crumbly (yumm-o), the blueberry muffins were very filling with big plump berries and a crumbly topping.  Kenzie picked out the death by chocolate cookie which really was to die for and Dallin devoured his orange roll which was flaky on top gooey on the bottom with a perfect balance of sweetness.

After our little splurge at the bakery we found our spot on the sidewalk under a tree and watched the State Fair Parade.  I'll admit the parade was very much disappointing but we made it fun none the less.  Kenzie and Dallin got lots of balloons and candy and a big stack of free Frosty coupons!

Later that evening we decided to host a impromptu potluck at our house and invited some friends over.  It's always fun to entertain and spend time in good company.

Sunday was church and Charlie spoke in sacrament meeting on stewardship.  He did an excellent job!  Dallin sang his heart out in Primary today, he especially loves the song I Belong to the Church of Jesus Christ.  I'm glad that I get to be in Primary and see him learn and grow in the gospel.  Kenzie feels extra special because she has two teachers in Nursery and likes to brag about it.  She loves it and goes happily to her class like a big girl.

PS: I've added a few recipes to my recipe blog.  Check it out if you haven't in awhile.

Be careful to not eat too much sticky buns. What a great Saturday! Sorry we couldn't be there for Charlie's talk.

I'm sorry the parade was disappointing, it sounds like the bakery stop made up for it! We might be able to make it out for the fair....i hope!
