We took the kids to the mall on Saturday to visit Santa. Kenzie is deathly afraid of Santa but she has never been able to tell us why. When we ask her if she's afraid of Santa she says no. Then why won't she sit on his lap? She says she just doesn't want to. We tried bribing her with ice cream, gum, taking her blanky away, all kinds of things but she still wouldn't budge. I told her that this is a family tradition, every year we go and visit Santa and take a picture with him. She didn't have to sit on his lap or even talk to him, just stand next to Dallin while he's sitting on his lap. We almost got her to agree to that much but when we got to the mall wouldn't you know it...the kid in front of us was screaming his head off. There went that plan!
On the other hand, Dallin ran right up to him and gave him a huge hug and told him all the things he wants for Christmas and had a nice little chat with Santa. It was really fun to see how excited he was and Santa was really cool about it.
I don't know if we'll ever get Kenzie to warm up to the Jolly ol' Man. However we did make a small break through. She
finally told us that she's afraid of his beard.

I'm with Kenzie on this one! It is kinda creepy getting close to an old man you don't really know especially having to sit on his lap! At least that is what I was thinking when I was trying to get a picture of my kids with Santa.
