Fun Filled Weekend

Our three-day weekend/birthday celebration started on Thursday.  We spent the late morning and afternoon at Pirate's Cove, a family fun waterpark in the Metro area.  It was so crowded!  I'd hate to see it on a Saturday.  But it was way fun and very age appropriate for our kids.  I would highly recommend it to families that might be in Denver during the summer months.

After spending most of the day in the sun we headed over to the mall so Dallin could get his Lego Store fix.  Although the store is small in size it is big on things to look at, especially for our little Lego enthusiast.  We let him pick out a small box of Legos...did I ever mention how ridiculously expensive those little buggers are?

And as if that wasn't enough for one day, we headed back to Mom and Dad Pratt's for a backyard picnic, fire roast, and birthday cake for Dad Pratt.  He was celebrating his big 60th birthday and so we treated him with two 1/2 days with us!  How lucky!!  This evening was the start of the birthday celebration.

Friday, Charlie and I woke up and went to the Denver temple.  Afterwards we met up with the kids and family for lunch followed by an afternoon at Tiny Town.  We headed back home that evening just in time to wake up the next morning to let our tile guy in to install the tile in our basement.

Saturday, after the tile was done, we once again set for the road and headed for the Springs to tour the Garden of the Gods.  We kept our visit there short so we could be sure to make it to our fun-filled dinner extravaganza at the Flying W Ranch and Chuck-wagon Dinner!  This was our gift to Dad for his big birthday and it turned out to be just perfect.  He (and everyone else) LOVED it, it was just his speed.  The night was perfect and the little western village was cool and authentic looking.  The food was great (even though we were the last to be called) and the live entertainment was surprisingly really good.  The kids were loving it and have been wearing their cowboy/girl hats and shooting their bow and arrows and play guns ever since.

Although we were so exhausted by Saturday night and it was pretty hard to get up for church this morning, we had a really fun weekend and we were glad that Dad Pratt had a fun birthday...he deserved it!
