I'M TIRED
I REALLY WANT TO GO TO BED
But I decided to blog because I realized that I just need to.
Last Tuesday morning I had a presidency meeting and as I left the house I decided to leave my diaper bag at home since I was going kid-free. So I grabbed my wallet, keys, phone and headed out the door. The thought entered my mind to grab my purse but I shrugged it off, "Nah, I don't want to bring my huge purse with only three things in it, I'll be fine." Away I went. While I was gone my mother-in-law as well as my sister-in-law were driving down to Pueblo to go to the State Fair. We had all these fun plans to spend the afternoon at the fair. After my meeting I still had a little bit of time before my motherly duties called again so I ran to a couple of stores to get some groceries. I was holding my wallet under my arm the entire time. When I got home Mom and Ellen were here and we were talking while I was unloading the car and bringing in the groceries. I didn't even think about my wallet.
A few hours later we were ready to head to the fair. That's when I realized that I didn't put my wallet back in the diaper bag. I scanned the kitchen, no wallet. I scanned the car and my bedroom, no wallet. I checked with Kenzie just to make sure she didn't decide to play with it, no luck. We had to leave to get Dallin from school, we didn't have time to search anymore. We picked him up then we decided to drop everyone off at the fair and Charlie and I would go back home to search some more for my wallet. We looked EVERYWHERE. Charlie looked where I looked and we checked and re-checked. I even called the last store that I shopped at to see if they had it. No luck.
It was at that time we pronounced the wallet lost/stolen. I couldn't remember physically having the wallet after shopping at the last store. Either I nonchalantly threw it in the car without notice, or I had dropped it.
We started making phone calls.
We were on the phone for 2 hours.
We cancelled EVERYTHING!
The stress level in the room was so thick you could taste it!
We prayed that my information would not be used for harm, that we would be protected, and if it be Heavenly Father's will that we would find the wallet.
Well, we didn't find the wallet, at least not on Tuesday. I was flying out to Utah on Thursday morning so my timing was impecable!
Wednesday night I finished packing for my trip. I went out to the garage to load the stroller and set up the GPS in the car. I opened the passenger side door of the car when low and behold there was my wallet! It was wedged between the seat and the door. I was so relieved to have found it, I didn't have to worry about some creep having all my information, but I was so mad at myself for not opening up that door the day before. Why? Why? Why? It was right there!!
When I told Charlie I had found it and told him where I found it, he sank. A pit entered his stomach and he proceeded to tell me that as we were searching, a thought enter his mind to open the passenger side door and check there. But knowing that I had looked through the car twice he shrugged it off. If only he had listened to his prompting. Then I told him about the feeling I had that morning about taking my purse but I shrugged that off too. And I'm sure Heavenly Father is up there looking down on us just shaking his head, "I tried to tell you, but you didn't listen. You had to do it the hard way!"
Lesson learned! We have committed ourselves to being more sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.
