Birthday Part Two
I made soccer ball cupcakes for Dallin's kindergarten class, all 25 of them! It was a lot of fun delivering these colorful treats and seeing the excitement in their eyes when I showed up with this large tray of green, black, and white goodness.
His teacher has a tradition. The birthday boy/girl gets to take the first bite. So the children all lined up and sat on the steps outside their classroom (all 25 of them....there seems to be so many more than 25 when they're all lined up like that). Dallin passed out a napkin to each child as they sat patiently. Then he gave each child a cupcake. They sat there holding their cupcake in their napkin without eating it until everyone had one and then Dallin took one huge bite and got green frosting all over his face and then the rest of them proceeded to indulge. It was a site to behold!
All the children said "thank you" to Dallin but a few of them said "thank you, Dallin's mom." I had to take a double take on that...have I really reached that stage? Yup, I'm "Dallin's mom". I'm the one bringing home made cupcakes to kindergarten. It's official!
