Working On It

I really want to get better at taking pictures.  I've even considered taking some classes at the community college to learn more.  Although there is a side of me that thinks you either have "it" or you don't.  If you have "it" then you shouldn't have to take classes to try and get "it" when in the long run you'll never really have "it" anyway.  Then the other side of me thinks well maybe there's some hidden talent in there somewhere and it needs a little direction to help make it surface.  Regardless of my inner doubts and contention...I do want to get better whether that be formally or through trial and error.  I've learned this much about photography, you have to edit your photos to make them great, otherwise they'll just be good (or in my case mediocre).  I don't have the big dog (photoshop) so I'm just using the limited editing tools in iPhoto.  But I'm finding that even the little enhancements make a difference.  So here are a couple of pictures I took recently of the kids and their friends that I edited and cropped.  I guess I should have kept the before shots too.  Not bad but I know I'll get better.

These look great! I agree that you either have a nautural ability for it, or you don't just like with musical instruments. BUT when you get the right instruction on how to use your instrument along with the natural ability...magic happens :o) I think you've got it!
