Dallin

We recently had parent teacher conferences with Dallin's teachers.  It was so refreshing to hear such great things about Dallin.  He's learned and matured so much this year in kindergarten.  I'm so happy to know that he has a genuine desire to be good and please his teachers...so many kids these days don't even care.

It was funny to hear that he's a bit of the lady's man.  Mrs. Jackson has found that he concentrates better when he's sitting next to girls.  So he is the only boy at his table and she says he's very kind to all of them and even helps them clean up after art projects.  He is in the highest reading group and she says if he keeps up his reading over the summer he will start 1st grade at a 2nd grade reading level.  She also said his handwriting is wonderful!  He can count by 10's, 5's, and 2's all the way to 100.  He's really enjoying his instrumental music class as well as art, choir, and Spanish.  But most of all he says he likes Coach (PE).  Mrs. Dodge (teacher's assistant) mentioned how well he gets along with all the kids in the class and everyone likes Dallin and they all play well at recess.

He had a little bit of trouble just before Christmas with remembering to clean up his messes after art projects in the classroom.  I think he was getting distracted and would forget to finish what he was doing.  It became a bit of a problem though and his teacher mentioned it to me one day when I picked him up.  When he got back from Christmas break he fell back into old habits and needed continual reminders.  Finally Mrs. Jackson threatened him with a white ticket if he didn't get his act together and since then she says he's been doing remarkably better.  We are really proud of Dallin and hope that he continues to excel in school and that he continues to take after his dad (the self-proclaimed genius) and NOT his mom in academics!

Whatevs Rocko. People who have to SAY that they are genius...usually have a lot to learn. It is those quiet confidents (like you and me) wink. wink. who really are the smart ones! ....now if we could just work on your spelling! ;)

Btw, good job Dal!
