Russia

So my parents are in Russia, right?  Well, the temperatures there have been in the teens or colder consistently for weeks now.  My mother, bless her, has fallen twice on the ice.  Luckily she was not injured and is keeping warm as you can see from the picture...which makes me smile every time I look at it.
Some of the things they have experienced and done since arriving in Russia about 4 months ago include (aside from their regular missionary teaching duties):

  • Visiting Moscow a few times and navigating the subway system without speaking (or reading) Russian.  I heard once that more people ride the subway in Moscow in a day than live in all of NYC!  True!!
  • touring the Russian wooden nesting dolls factory
  • touring a vintage car factory
  • baking lots of monkey bread at Christmas time
  • traveling to Ukraine to renew their Visa (again without knowing any Russian) which they will have to do every 90 days
They have been very blessed to be in a safe apartment and among good people.  I know the Lord is blessing them for their sacrifices and assisting them to help bring others closer to Christ.
