Healthy Birthday Snack

The kid's school has really tried hard to stress healthy eating especially for the snacks the kids bring.  They each have to provide a snack for the whole class about once a month.  I really wish they would be allowed to bring their own snacks everyday but such as it is...we deal with what we get.  Some parents are on board and bring yogurt, fruit, cheese, etc.  While still others bring cookies, fruit snacks, and other junk.

I really wanted Dallin to bring something healthy for his birthday snack but I knew he wouldn't go for a veggie tray or a bag of carrots.  I started searching the internet and found the perfect idea.  He was immediately excited about it, thankfully!  I thought for sure he'd put up a fuss for cupcakes but he was cool with it.

I debated on how exactly to assemble these little robots.  The original idea used 2 small boxes of raisins for the feet.  I tried it and it just made the robots tipsy, plus the cost of it all was starting to add up once you do 25 of them so I nixed the raisins.  But I wasn't sure how to attach the arms and head and still make it simple for the kids to eat.  I decided to wrap the pretzel arms in plastic wrap and drape them over the juice box.  Then I taped the spoon onto the back of the juice, easy to pull off.  I was going to tape the applesauce head onto the juice but decided to just set it there and let it balance.  It works well and will be easy for the kids to disassemble and eat.  I hope they enjoy these little robots when we bring them tomorrow!
