Boy or Girl?

I had my 20-week ultrasound with baby number five.  Everything looked normal and healthy.  Ten little toes, ten little fingers, healthy heartbeat, normal development.  All things looking good!  Then the tech asked if we wanted to know the gender.  We said yes!  She said it looks like a girl.  Charlie and I both couldn't believe it!  We were so certain that we were going to have a boy.  We just couldn't believe it!!  We both started laughing and I think the technician was a little confused about what was going on.  Then we told her that we have three girls and just one boy at home and we were kinda hoping for another boy.  But it was not to be!!  We are going to have a houseful of hormones and Dallin and Charlie will just have to stick it out together.

When we got home we decided to tell the kids in a little bit different way than we have in the past.  We put a pink balloon inside a box and let them open up the box.  At first, Dallin didn't really get it, it was just a balloon that said "baby" on it.  Then we asked him, what does pink stand for?  And then he got it!  He was surprised and in disbelief at first and then he got mad!  He was so mad he ran upstairs and cried for a long time.  Then Charlie went to talk to him and then I talked to him and he calmed down.  By the end of the day, he had come to grips with it and was helping us think of names for his new little sister.  Poor kid!

When I posted the news on Facebook I got a lot of comments from friends and family members that were really sweet.  Many of them commented on what a great husband Dallin will be and how his future wife will appreciate that he was raised with so many girls.  Others said that at least he won't have to ever worry about sharing his room!  It's interesting how things work out and I know that everything happens for a reason.
