Kitchen Project

One thing that we both agreed on when we bought our house was that the kitchen needed some updating, like major updating.  Charlie earned a sizable bonus this year and we decided to use it on the kitchen.  We found a contractor that we felt good about and once all the materials were picked out we gave our contractor, Remi, the OK to get started.  He completely tore down the existing kitchen and replaced it with all new cabinets, backsplash, sink, counters, faucet, under cabinet lighting, and stove.  We couldn't justify buying a new fridge since we just purchased it a couple years ago so all our appliances are stainless except our fridge which is black.  The project took 4 weeks (they told me 2, I planned for 3) and we were so thankful for our little kitchen in the basement that we could use in the meantime.  The project went smoothly without too many mishaps.  I kinda freaked out when Remi started installing the backsplash.  It was a dark and raining day that day so the lighting in the kitchen was off and with the weird lighting, the colors in the backsplash were not looking good with the countertops at all!  I panicked and thought I had made a poor choice in the backsplash.  But Charlie was able to convince me it was just the lighting and it'd be ok.  Sure enough, it was fine and I had freaked out for no good reason.  I truly LOVE my new kitchen now.  It is bright and airy and feels more spacious.  My favorite things about my new kitchen are the under cabinet lighting and the dividers for my baking sheets above the fridge.  Here's another reason why my husband is truly the best in the world!!
