For our last family outing before school started we went on a hike in Castlewood Canyon. I was shocked at how well the kids did!! There was minimal complaining and we were able to hike about two miles. Along the way we were counting all the big rocks we saw and Sadie was up on my shoulders. She heard us counting so she started counting too...one, two, three, two, three, two, one, three. Then she would hang her head down really low so we were eye to eye and she'd say, Hi Mom! She was being such a nut!
On the way back we split up so the big kids could go faster. Charlie took Sadie, Dallin and Kenzie and I stayed back with Lulu and Gennie. At one point we had to cross a small stream on a log. I had Gennie in front of me as I held onto her hands to help her across. I totally missed my footing and slipped on the log and one of my shins got all cut up and bleeding while my other foot landed in the water. So I had to hike the rest of the way with a bloody shin and a wet foot, poor me! Oh well!
