Spring Break: New Mexico Day 1

5 hours in a car will bring out the silly side in anyone!

And apparently the stinky side too!

Goofing around in the backseat.

Driving through lots and lots of nothingness.

More nothingness.

Finally the bordem got to her and she conked out.

And she conked too.

Luckily he didn't conk out!

We made it at last!  The lower condo was our home for 2.5 days.

Our condo was within walking distance to the Plaza where all the vendors sell their ware.   So we took a stroll to see what all the hype was about.  Here is my cute little family walking by the downtown library.

Santa Fe is a very artsy town.  Almost every building and residence has some sort of structure or sculpture out in front.  Here's one that I thought was cool.

Lots and lots of red chilies!

The Plaza where we watched street performers, window shopped, and enjoyed all the new sites.

This is just to the left of the above picture.  Along that long building under the  awning is where the Native Americans sell all their jewelry, artwork, blankets, and trinkets.

It's hard to see but as Kenzie's souvenir for the trip she picked out a puppy in a purse.  As we were walking along she bumped into a woman who was carrying a real puppy in a purse.  At one point Kenzie's puppy and the real puppy were touching noses.  It was really cute.

This statue spoke to me especially.  It was as if I was looking in the mirror!

Had to get a shot of this for Grandma Linda!

This is just one of many really cool doors I noticed as we walked around.

Pretty much every building, structure, house, business is designed in this Santa Fe style architecture.  And apparently you are limited to about 5 shades of brown.  It's kinda cool but very boring at the same time.

We pulled into a Smith's for chapstick (our lips were suffering from the dryness) just as the sun was setting.  I jumped out of the car, got in the trunk for my camera, and just as quick as that the sun dipped behind the horizon!  You can just barely see the very tippy top of it.  Once I get photoshop I'll eliminate that light post and the Pizza Hut sign out of the photo :-)
And that ends our first day in New Mexico.
