Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs

We thought it would be fun to take a tour of the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.  We had no idea what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised.  They have a great facility that includes training for many of the olympic and paraolympic sports like men's gymnastics, wrestling, shooting, archery, weight lifting, volleyball, trampolining, swimming, and synchronized swimming.  In addition they also have many athletes from various sports (like bobsledding) who do physical strength training on location.  We were informed that you have to be at least 16 years old and in the top 10% in your sport in order to qualify to become a resident.  If you are a resident all of your expenses are paid for you including room and board, food, doctors, trainers, etc.  Typically the stay is 3-6 years.  However, Apollo Anton Ono lived there for 8 years before they built the facility in Salt Lake.  It was a really interesting tour and gave great insight to the time and dedication these athletes put into their training.
