Accident

We got home from our Idaho/Utah trip on Sunday evening and that very next night we got a call from Jason informing us of Dad Pratt's accident.

Charlie has been looking for a scooter to ride to work since it's so close and he could save a lot on gas each month.  Well, Dad Pratt found out that a young man in the single's ward was selling his for a really good price so Charlie told him to get it and they'd figure out a way to get it down here later.  So Dad was really excited about it and Charlie was really excited about it and on Monday Dad bought the scooter.

He had just purchased it and was driving it home when he was struck in an intersection from an oncoming car turning left.  The other driver was a 19 year old boy and claimed he never saw him.  Dad had a helmet, reflective vest, and his headlight on.  He had taken every precaution necessary.  The accident left him with a broken femur, shattered wrist, broken collar bone, fractured vertebra, broken and bruised ribs, and collapsed lung.

Needless to say, Charlie felt the urge to be up in Denver to support his Mom and sister and to help wherever he could.  He was able to quickly get some time off and we drove up on Tuesday evening and stayed until Saturday evening.

Dad has since had surgery on his femur, wrist, and shoulder.  He's off the breathing tube and can speak.  He's disoriented and tired but seems to show good improvement.  He has many more surgeries ahead of him and a very long recovery but there are many people praying for him and helping him.  We feel so blessed that all his injuries are fixable and not life threatening.

This was his leg before surgery.  Kinda scary!!
This is the position you'll find Mom in at the ICU, always by his side, hand in hand.
