Photo A Day Challenge

I need to be challenged or else I get complacent.  I need a goal to work towards or else I get lazy.  I make up excuses way to easily.  The big one right now is photography.  I'm such a head case when it comes to photography!  I love it but it's hard.  And when things get hard I tend to run away, ignore, or give up.  I don't want to be like this, especially towards photography.  I want to get better and learn more but it's so easy to tell myself it's too hard.  And then I find myself going weeks without even picking up my camera.  WHAT?!?!  I know, I'm such a head case.

In order to combat this predicament I'm in, I have committed myself to a 30-day photo-a-day challenge.  I came across it earlier in the year and have decided I'm finally going to do it!  It will force me to get my camera out everyday and think somewhat creatively.  But here's my stipulations: I'm not going to clean my house before I take the picture.  I'm not going to put my kids in matching clothing and fix their hair super cute before I take the picture.  This challenge is not to stress me out, but to get me motivated.  This will show you small glimpses of our real...everyday life...just as you would see it if you spontaneously dropped in on me.

Here goes:
Day 1: your reflection
Day 2: someone who makes you happy
Day 3: color

Day 4: mail
Day 5: tiny
Day 6: lunch

Day 7: shadow

Day 8: inside your wallet
Day 9: cold
Day 10: how you feel today
Day 11: stairs
Day 12: sunset
Day 13: hair
Day 14: where you ate breakfast

Day 15: something you don't like
Day 16: orange
Day 17: something you drew
Day 18: bottle

Day 19: the last thing you bought

Day 20: 1pm

Day 21: vegetable

Day 22: something you're grateful for

Day 23: something that makes you sad
Day 24: flower
Day 25: circle
Day 26: looking down
Day 27: somewhere you went

UPDATE:
I started this post/project a lot longer than 30 days ago and as you can see I only made it to day 27 but I just lost steam.  I started out gung-ho but life got in the way and I didn't do it everyday and then I just felt like I had this project looming over me and I decided enough was enough and I'm calling it good.  I feel that the challenge served it's purpose though and for that I'm grateful.  It got me out of my funk I was in and I really had fun with it.  So there you have it!  Hope you enjoy.

I love what photography does for the most simple of things. What a great task to get you thinking out of the box and photographing all kinds of things. By the way, it looks like we have the same bed from Ikea, but it doesn't surprise me.
