Geneil 10 Months

Ok...so I totally forgot to take a picture and make a blog post on Geneil's 9th month...shoot!  There were just a few things going on in my life at that moment (aka Dallin's birthday party, Dallin's baptism, packing and moving, entertaining guests...yeah, a little stressed!).  So here we are at her 10th month and oh so much has happened!!

Geneil started taking her first steps toward walking in her 8th month.  She was cruising the furniture like a pro just as she turned 9 months.  My dad came to Pueblo on October 23 and she was just starting to take a few steps on her own.  Mostly she would march in place and then plop right down on her bottom.  By the time we were loading up the truck on October 30 to move up to Centennial she was officially walking!  What a little overachiever!!  Seriously...I tell people all the time she just needs to slow down and enjoy being a baby for heaven's sake.  But nope, she needs to be up and about keeping up with her siblings and the puppy.

Her favorite things to do are open up the kids' cup drawer in the kitchen and empty out as much as she can before Lulu comes to sabotage what she's doing.  She also likes to growl like a monster, it's hilarious.  She does this funny thing where she hunches her shoulders forward and sticks her arms straight back while bouncing her knees up and down.  She's a hoot!

She's not much of a talker but she's getting a little bit more vocal.  She'll say "Mama" and "Dad" or "Dada" but not much else.  She will wave to people by opening and closing her fist.  Oh, and she LOVES peek-a-boo.  She thinks it's the funniest thing.  Grandma Linda got her a teddy bear that will play peek-a-boo with her.  She loves it!!

Geneil loves to listen to music and often "dances" when it's playing.  Her version of dancing is bouncing up and down, it's really cute.  She has a radar for Chewy's food, whenever the laundry room door is open she makes a beeline right for the dog food and chows down.  She also has a radar for cell phones and pens.  She knows that Charlie usually keeps a pen in his front pocket of his shirt and when he holds her that's the first place she looks.  If anyone (including perfect strangers in Sunday school, for instance) is looking at their cell phone at a level she can reach she will make a beeline for those as well.  She knows there's something special about those things because she sees everyone holding them all the time but to her they just taste mighty good.

Her favorite time of the day is bath time and bottle time.  She loves to splash in the tub and doesn't mind if Lulu climbs in with her.  She also loves to cuddle up in my arms with her bottle.  I cherish those moments with her.  It reminds me that she really is still a baby even though she doesn't want to be.  She even prefers if I hold the bottle for her.  I'm not sure if that qualifies her as a little diva, but I love that she still wants me and needs me.

Geneil was able to play with her cousin Dare over Thanksgiving this year.  She had a fun time hanging out with him.  He's a whole 3 months younger than her but weighs more AND is taller than her!!  She didn't seem to mind and still loved stealing his toys and wallowing with him on the floor.

Oh the many emotions of a baby :-)
