Independence Day

We had a pretty low-key Fourth of July celebration this year.  Charlie was working so the kids and I headed over to the Alleman's for a BBQ.  Lulu and Gennie ate some all-American watermelon and we had corn on the cob with burgers and hot dogs.  It was a bona-fid celebration!  Dallin and Kenzie stayed with them and they all went to see the fireworks at Mile High Stadium.  The little girls and I stopped off at a fireworks tent and I purchased a few fountains to put off in the backyard.  They were a little bit loud, not too bad, but Lulu and Gennie thought they were REALLY loud!  I think they liked the lights and shooting sparks but not the loud whistling sounds.  Later, after we put the girls to bed, Charlie and I watched the neighbors' fireworks from our backyard.  It was the perfect evening and a great opportunity to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy and the sacrifices that have been made on our behalf.  We are truly blessed!
