Special Day

Today, March 6, 2011, was Alayna's blessing day. What a special day it has been! My parents along with my sister Carmen and her son Caleb drove over on Thursday in treacherous winter weather. What is normally a 10 hour trip took them 12 because of accidents and bad weather. Their guardian angles were looking over them and were able to make it without incident. Then Mijken my oldest sister surprised me by flying into Denver on Friday. She spent the day there with my brother Jacob and then drove down to Pueblo on Saturday. Originally she didn't think she would be able to come but then looked into it a bit more and decided she could manage it. To my surprise she showed up on my doorstep on Saturday morning. This morning Jacob and his whole family woke up very early as well as Charlie's parents and Jason and Ellen. They all drove the two hours down here in time for our 8:30 AM sacrament meeting. It was so awesome to have so many family members here to support and celebrate this occasion

After sacrament meeting we had a big brunch with lots of fruit, two breakfast casseroles, pinwheel sandwiches, monkey bread, and juice.

Mom Foutz wanted to take the opportunity to host an Easter egg hunt for the grandkids while she was here and the kids loved that as well. I think everyone has had a fun day, especially Alayna who has been held consistently for 4 days straight. (I think I'm going to have my work cut out for the next week training her to soothe herself without being held).
